Bay Area

Welcome to the Greater Bay Area Chapter of ASciNA, covering the area from north of Santa Barbara to the Oregon border. This chapter has formerly been known under the name "Pacific North" and had it's first meeting in 2002. Our members are scientists and scholars affiliated with Universities in Northern California and major companies in the Biotech and IT sector in Silicon Valley.

In March 2006, Susanne Pangratz-Führer, Monika Trebo and Sonja Schmid were elected to head this Chapter. After accepting a position at Virginia Tech, Sonja Schmid moved to the east coast in July 2008. We are currently involved in an effort to make ASciNA better known to people within the scientific community in the area, and to facilitate communication and exchange of knowledge between Austrian scientists and scholars, as well as partners in industry in Northern California.
