The scientific members of ASCINA's chapter "Pacific South" work at one of the many academic institutions in and around Los Angeles, including UCLA, USC, Caltech, UC Davis, and UC San Diego. Robert Schiestl helped found this chapter and has chaired it since its kick-off meeting, which took place in December 2003. From 2009-2010, Eva Schernhammer, immediate past president of ASCINA, chaired the chapter during her sabbatical stay at UCLA. In the fall of 2010, Christoph Haselwandter, Britta Lassmann, and Cecilia Favre took over and are currently chairs of ASCINA chapter Pacific South. We host monthly scientific meetings, which take place at varying locations in the greater Los Angeles area. They typically encompass a talk by one of the members of Pacific South, which is held in a layman's language for a broader audience, followed by a social get-together. The Republic of Austria is represented in Los Angeles by The Honorable General Counsel Karin Proidl.
